We Can't Have Nice Things - Birthday Edition

And with the third birthday, comes the third birthday present from Nana. Behold, the Fisher Price Batmobile ATV: Last night, fearing potential rain damage, I grabbed it from the front lawn and deposited it in the dining room. Rookie mistake.
This is what the hall floor now looks like. The round-ish scrapes are actually about the size of a quarter and go right down to the bare wood.

It's an outside toy. Serves me right for trying to shower.

Yup, ouch.

Chores to pay it off for the next, oh, twenty years....

I've found that showers are worth way more than they used to. A long, hot, undisturbed shower: totally worth wood. Okay, that didn't come out right.

Ouch. That's why we have Pergo until the kids leave home.

I'll never forget the day I discovered that the kids had been stomping around in big sister's roller blades on the hardwood floors...

ooh no.. my daughter has been riding her scooter around in the house since christmas, but it just leaves annoying black scuff marks!

Yikes. That's exactly why I don't shower.

When I was a kid my mom let me practice tap dancing on our linoleum. Not a great idea unless you like little divots.

Ouch. The price of a shower...I feel your pain.

Oh shit. Maybe it's Nana's fault really? ;)

Totally the grandmother's fault I say.

Oh, that just sucks. I am so sorry. Why is it when we are always trying to do just one simple, nice thing for ourselves - like take a shower, and some screw-up happens and then we have to feel bad about taking a shower!!! I guess it is called being a mom.

OMG, this is our house too. I finally went, "Okay, fine, we'll get the floors refinished when Henry leaves home."
