Nearly Wordless Wednesday - The Dirty Little Snowman Edition

He's been around ever since I can remember. He's survived a basement flood, broken hangers, poor packing, and years of loving abuse.

I kidnapped my dirty little snowman from my Mom's when I moved into my own place. He's the first ornament to adorn the tree each year. The boys know he's special and why.

He's part of my Christmas magic.

He kind of looks like something from the Island of Misfit Toys. I'm glad you've given him a loving home.

Half the ornaments on our tree have a history. either made by a child that is now grown, or a family heirloom. It's sO great to trim the tree and recall the memories of the ornaments that are special. :)

Is that an earmuff? Or does he have one bad eye?

We had so many ornaments like this growing up. My mom's attic is a treasure trove of ancient holiday decorations. I love that you took it with you. I'm going to have to beg her for a couple of my favorites.

My parents had me late in life, so there are a whole host of ornaments from before I was born. They were inexpensive when they bought them (circa 1960) and whatever lead/mercury/asbestos they were made of has long since worn off. There is one little ball ornament, about an inch in diameter, that is my absolute favorite. It used to be gold, but now just mostly looks dirty. I have saved it from the trash on numerous occasions. I guess now that my folks aren't doing tress anymore I should give that ball a loving home.
